Currently celebrating its 150th anniversary The Nation is America’s oldest weekly magazine. It was where the likes of James Baldwin, Ralph Nader and Hunter S. Thompson published their first work. It is where the leading writers, thinkers and leaders this country has produced have shared their thoughts on the pressing issues of the day, always looking left and always looking looking out for the great majority of us.
The comprehensive archive of the contemporary era of this seminal magazine has been acquired by the Tamiment Library and Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives of New York University. Dating back to 1978 the editorial archive features the material gathered under the editorship of Victor Navasky and the magazine’s current editor, Katerina vanden Heuvel. Much of the older material has previously been distributed to various libraries by past editors.
It would be hard to find a better home for the Tamiment Library is one of the world’s leading centers for scholarly research on Labor and the Left.
